\section{Introduction}  Cacao grows best in the tropical regions with a  humid climate and a good amount of rainfall. Philippines belong to this region where the climatic conditions and soil characteristics are conducive to grow cocoa. In fact, Philippines used to produce about 20 percent of the world's cacao \cite{CacaoPH_Production}. However, pests and diseases plagued the farms during the 80's, leading to the fall of the Philippine cacao market. Nowadays, the world’s cacao demand is supplied by Ivory Coast (38\%), Ghana (21\%), Indonesia (13\%), Brazil (4\%), Malaysia (1\%) \cite{krishnamoorthy2013effect}. The Philippines accounts for only less than 0.5\%. This made us qualified to compete globally in the world’s supply of cacao products. With the increasing demand of cacao products locally and internationally, and favorable selling prices of cacao worldwide, we should try to retrieve our glorious days as one of the main producer of world’s cacao [3].
