GSM modules will be attached to the trap enabling it to transmit mosquito counts wirelessly through cellular networks via Short Messaging Service (SMS). A server will also be setup that will act as the central repository that receives and stores data coming from the deployed traps. On the server, basic analytics will be performed. Moreover, appropriate control charts for monitoring daily mosquito counts will be constructed. The charts will enable an early warning system for mosquito related diseases through monitoring vector abundance. Appropriate alert thresholds will be identified, that factors in the geography of the area where the trap is deployed, to optimize the performance of the control chart system.
