Adult mosquito surveillance is one of the major components in developing pest control strategy for dengue mosquito. However, there is no available method implemented yet in the Philippines in accurately sampling adult mosquitoes. The project being proposed initiates the development of a cost-effective trapping system that can attract, capture and kill adult mosquitoes. This trapping system includes a potent attractants, which will attract and trap adult mosquitoes. This trapping system has dual function- for mosquito monitoring/surveillance and control. Additionally, this trapping system allow data collection with minimal human intervention and suitable even at remote areas. It provides a solution for generating reliable entomological indices which in turn, strengthens the disease surveillance system and more efficient vector control.
