Despite being designed to accommodate only 300,000 people, Manila’s Metro Rail Transit (MRT) serves more than 500,000 passengers daily. This over-utilization results into worn down facilities and most importantly, passenger delays. In this paper we introduce SMaRT, an agent based model of the MRT and discuss how SMaRT was created and its features as well as the methods used to validate the model and how it can be used by government officials to improve the MRT’s quality of service.  \textbf{Keywords:} Agent-based Modeling, Multi-Agent Systems, Congestion Dynamics Causal Relations, Relation Extraction, Knowledge Representation
