Estimates of TB prevalence (all ages, all forms of TB) for 17 countries, before and after results from national prevalence surveys became available. Panels are ordered by size of the before-after difference. The wide uncertainty of the post-survey estimate in the Republic of Tanzania is due to a limitation of the survey that only estimated the prevalence of smear positive TB, from which the estimate of prevalence of bacteriologically confirmed TB was derived based on results from other recent surveys in Africa.
