We have observed that mergers increase AGN activity which translates to enhanced (increased) jet or radio activity, and we can now conclude that perhaps the most active AGN today may be the result of the merging of smaller galaxies.  one of the main challenges in the study is the physical limitations of the SDSS. Observations at smaller projected separations are hampered as small separations are difficult to resolve using current SDSS technology. This in turn limits the ability to make solid inferences on the available data. from our post-merger data we postulate that enhanced AGN activity continues as AGN merge.
