Figure 8. This figure shows the relationship between rp (transverse separation) transverse separation (rp)  anddelta v (the velocity offset). We see that there seems to be no relationship between the variables in  the figure. velocity offset $\Dellta v$.  Much of the data however seems to be is  clustered tat at  the bottom right of the figure. this suggests that an increase in rp might result in This is because of  a increase geometric effect, where the area  in quasar pair velocity offset an annulus with rp-lower = 50 & rp-higher is much greater than for rp-lower = 0 & rp-higher = 50.
