We also note that the points in the plots are not uniformly distributed. This has to do with the fact the spectroscopic fibers have a width of 2 arcseconds, that sets minimum angular separation, which translates to an increasing spatial separation as a function of redshift.
Also, the higher the redshift, the larger the volume you probe and therefore the higher the source density on the sky.
