Fig. \ref{fig:ciCycle} summarizes the relationship between rainfall biases of historical\(-\)AMIP and CI as well as its different components for MRI-CGCM3. The rainfall bias annual cycle (black solid line) is very similar to the multimodel mean (blue solid line in Fig. \ref{fig:boxplotDif}) and characterized by overall positive values in the short rains but negative values in the long rains. The rainfall bias can be explained by the CI bias and the latter in general leads by one month. Decomposition of the CI shows that the moisture component of the near surface moist static energy emerges as the dominant component.
