\section{Introduction}  Whistlers waves were heard as early as 1886 on long telephone lines. In 1953, Storey showed that whistlers originate from lightning discharges, propogating along field-aligned tubes of density enhancement or depletion. The first experiment to investigate whistler waves in detail was by Stenzel in 1975, in a different plasma with a much higher density but otherwise comparable plasma parameters for this experiment [1]. When a whistler wave strikes an area of the plasma that has a density depletion, the wave has some of its energy converted another type of wave called the lower hybrid wave [2]. This experiment is designed to confirm these results and explore wave conversion to lower hybrid waves due to density perturbations. Appleton's equation will be used to simulate a model of the whistler waves in ducting and compare to the data taken to find where the theory matches experiment and where the approximations fail. fail .
