Templated-guided Self-assembled Nanocluster Arrays (NCA) for Surface Enhancement Raman Scattering (SERS)\\  SERS has been widely investigated for ultra-sensitive chemical and biological detections due to its high sensitivity and low detection limit. Noble metal nanostructures, particularly Au and Ag, have shown excellent SERS sensitivity due to their unique properties of localized surface plasmon resonance. [23,24] Each molecule can be identified by each own distinguished “finger-print” spectra. [25] NCA can be created on the substrate via templated-guided self-assembly, which combines top-down approach for the substrate and bottom-up approach for the nanostructure. (Fig. 21) The assembled NCA can precisely tune the positions of the noble metal nanoparticles in order to generate certain “hot-spot”, which enables the great enhancement of the SERS signal. [25,26]
