I chose homeruns as the variable that would give me the lowest sum of squares. I chose this because hitting a homerun gives you at least a score or more if other people are on base. Below is the graph of homeruns vs runs. It appears that my prediction was
accurate. accurate, the graph shows a linear relationship with a r value= 0.793.The sum of squares here is 73670 as compared to the runs and at bats data with sum of squares=123700. This graph is more linear than our previous graph and in turn will be a better predicter of runs that at bats was.
