Experimental Setup

Assuming a 326 MeV \(^{32}\)Si beam (10.2 MeV/u).

Si PSD Array - Target - Elum - Blocker - Ion Chamber positions

All array positions are based on the active area of the Si detectors. Namely, 35 cm of length either from the end of the last detector or the beginning of the first detector. Will translate this to a more measurable quantity in the future.

Array to cover -44 \(\leq\) z \(\leq\) -9 cm relative to the target position. This allows for 10\(^{\circ}\) < \(\theta_{\text{cm}}\) < 30\(^{\circ}\) for all states up to E\(^{\text{ex}}\)=6 MeV.

<Array>–[10]—<Target>–[10]—<Elum>——-[105]———-<Blocker>–[10]–<Ion Chamber>
-45 to -10 0 10 105 10 Relative to Target
-52 to -17 -7.0 [10.0] 3.0 [105] 108.0 118.0 Relative to Absolute Zero [optimal]
-55 to -20 -10 [10.0] 0.0 [108] 108.0 118.0
Elum at 10 cm from target give \(\sim\)2 MeV deuterons at 20\(^{\circ}\) in the center of mass and 80\(^{\circ}\) in laboratory. Recoil radii are all less than 1 cm in this region.

Recoil radii at 1.18 m from the target range from 0.5 - 2.5 cm. Must check blocker is this small and ion chamber opening is this big.
