For our smart floor we have chosen passive MIKROE-295 tags (fig3). (\ref{fig:fig3}).  Since they do not require a power source they can be easily placed and, if need be, picked up and rearranged in the room. Their flat card shape and plastic casing also make them robust enough to be stepped on and suffer no damage.
