# Introduction  This article is the second in a series of the TS Research  Highlights articles. series.  These articles are meant to disseminate recent scientific progress on Gilles de la Tourette Syndrome (TS). During each year, the article will be a work in progress, maintained as a web page on the [Authorea online authoring platform](https://www.authorea.com/aboutus). After the end of the calendar year, the article will be finalized and submitted for publication as the annual update for [the Tics channel on F1000Research](http://f1000research.com/channels/tics/about-this-channel) \citep*{25580234, Richards_2014highlights}. Please consult Tourette syndrome research highlights 2016 for the articles of interest that have been identified so far for 2016.
