Figure~\ref{fig:gaborcoarse}(a) shows four Gabor patches with a spatial frequency of 20 cycles per frame and Figure~\ref{fig:gaborcoarse}(b) and (c) show the resulting \textsc{skv} representation at two window sizes. As can be seen in Figure~\ref{fig:gaborcoarse}(b) the 'hi-res' \textsc{skv}$_{50}$ produces a result which is not unlike the original, but with twice the spatial frequency; this is because each transition from black to white produces an 'onset' and an 'offset'. The 'lo-res' textsc{skv}$_{10}$ \textsc{skv}$_{10}$  in Figure~\ref{fig:gaborcoarse}(c) produces some blurring of onsets and offsets, so the frequency doubling is masked, but the results are in many ways similar.
