Figure 8. A plot of
T($\Delta$_{47}) T($\Delta_{47}$) versus calcite
$\delta$^{18}O. $\delta^{18}$O. Superposed on the plot are two lines representing the composition of calcite in isotopic equilibrium for two scenarios. The first is mixing between a hot, formation water (T=100$^{\circ}$C,
$\delta$^{18}O=+5‰_{VSMOW}) $\delta^{18}$O=+5‰$_{VSMOW}$) and a local groundwater (T=30$^{\circ}$C,
$\delta$^{18}O=-4‰_{VSMOW}. $\delta^{18}$O=-4‰$_{VSMOW}$. The second is for precipitation from a fluid that cools from an initial temperature of 100$^{\circ}$C without any change in its isotopic composition. The data plot on, or close to the 2-component mixing model.
