\section{Conclusions}  We have conducted a very simple study analyzing the EEG response of one volunteer due to mental arithmetic calculations. In doing so, it was necessary to familiarize ourselves with the EEGLAB, a toolbox to the MATLAB software, FIR (finite impulse response) filters and CAR (common average removal) filter.   In analyzing the data, the main parameter we have used was the amplitude difference of the frequency spectra between task and rest conditions. In doing so, it was possible to obtain an idea of the power contribution of each frequency to each one of the analyzed EEG bands (delta, theta, alpha and beta). We have found that distinguishability between different experiment blocks was very much dependent on the band under study, with the delta band being distinguishable more easily.
