Even though it is included in the total User Time, that extra period is not considered for machine reliability calculations.  Weekends are usually used for machine studies or corrective maintenance.  Although there is no scheduled User Reserve Time, Saturdays have usually been used for that purpose.  Table~\ref{table:lnls-uvx-schedule} Table~\ref{tab:lnls-uvx-schedule}  shows the scheduling and delivered beam data for the past few years. \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:lnls-uvx-schedule}LNLS-UVX \caption{\label{tab:lnls-uvx-schedule}LNLS-UVX  scheduling data} \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrrr}\hline  \textbf{Year} &\textbf{2012}&\textbf{2013}&\textbf{2014}\\

The UVX e-log system automatically provides data related to `no beam' events but for all other proposed failure modes data are not easily available or are mostly not available at all.   Critical failures usually lead to `no beam' event either due to deliberate beam dump or by delayed delivery due to corrective maintenance. Low-beam-current, low-beam-lifetime, beam-blow-up, distorted-orbit and orbit-feedback-outage events are all registered in the e-log system by the operators mainly for record keeping since a qualitative analysis of the data is very time consuming.  Table~\ref{table:lnls-uvx-failures} Table~\ref{tab:lnls-uvx-failures}  summarises the failure modes for 2014. \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:lnls-uvx-failures}Failures \caption{\label{tab:lnls-uvx-failures}Failures  at the LNLS-UVX in 2014} \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrrr}\hline  \textbf{Event type} &\textbf{Number of events}&\textbf{Duration} \\

As mentioned in the previous chapters, only 'no-beam' events have been recorded at PETRA III so far.  Table~\ref{table:petra-iii-failures} Table~\ref{tab:petra-iii-failures}  summarises for 2013 how the user time is split between the different operation modes and the 'no-beam' failures for each mode. \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:petra-iii-failures}No-beam \caption{\label{tab:petra-iii-failures}No-beam  failures at PETRA III in 2013} \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrrr}\hline  \textbf{Mode} &\parbox[t]{2cm}{\textbf{Scheduled user time}}

The scheduled user time in 2014 was 3360 hours.   We do not schedule any user reserve or compensation time.  We have a large variety of user operation modes.  Table~\ref{table:spring-8-Schedule} Table~\ref{tab:spring-8-Schedule}  shows for 2014 how our scheduled user time is distributed over the different modes. We have currently no data on how the failure modes  are split up between the different operation modes.  \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:spring-8-Schedule}SPring-8 \caption{\label{tab:spring-8-Schedule}SPring-8  scheduling data in 2014} \scriptsize  \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrrl}\hline

\end{table}  Table~\ref{table:spring-8-failures} Table~\ref{tab:spring-8-failures}  summarises the failure modes for 2014; the failures are recorded over all operation modes in total.  \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:spring-8-failures}Failure \caption{\label{tab:spring-8-failures}Failure  modes at SPring-8 in 2014} \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrr}\hline  \textbf{Event type}&\textbf{Number of events}&\textbf{Duration} \\

Which users are assigned to those blocks is up to the beamline responsible.  In case of major events that cause beam outages of several days we sometimes schedule additional blocks of User Reserve Time, for example by shortening a shutdown.   This was done in 2013, when a failure of the cryostat of our superconducting 3rd harmonic cavity caused an outage of more than 100 hours.  Table~\ref{table:sls-schedule} Table~\ref{tab:sls-schedule}  shows the scheduling data for the past few years. \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:sls-schedule}SLS \caption{\label{tab:sls-schedule}SLS  scheduling data} \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrrr}\hline  \textbf{Year} &\textbf{2012}&\textbf{2013}&\textbf{2014}\\

The aim for the latter is, that we always stay above 100\%.  Table~\ref{table:sls-failure-count} Table~\ref{tab:sls-failure-count}  shows the number of the different types of events for the past few years; table~\ref{table:sls-failure-duration} table~\ref{tab:sls-failure-duration}  shows the total duration for the different failure modes. \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:sls-failure-count}Number \caption{\label{tab:sls-failure-count} Number  of failures at the SLS} \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrrr}\hline  \textbf{Year} &\textbf{2012}&\textbf{2013}&\textbf{2014} \\ \hline

\begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:sls-failure-duration}Duration \caption{\label{tab:sls-failure-duration}Duration  of failures at the SLS} \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lrrr}\hline  \textbf{Year} &\textbf{2012}&\textbf{2013}&\textbf{2014} \\

\subsection{Statistics Comparison}   Table~\ref{table:schedule_compare} Table~\ref{tab:schedule_compare}  compares how the different facilities handle Scheduled User Reserve Time and Spontaneous User Time. Only the SLS is scheduling the former;   the latter is sometimes used by the majority of the facilities, but the accounting is not done in a similar manner.  \begin{table}  \centering  \caption{\label{table:schedule_compare}Scheduling \caption{\label{tab:schedule_compare}Scheduling  of User Time}\scriptsize \begin{ruledtabular}  \begin{tabular}{lll}\hline  \textbf{Facility}&\textbf{Scheduled User Reserve Time}&\textbf{Spontaneous User Time}\\\hline
