Due to \cite{EstabrookEtAl_1973} [see also recent work by  \cite{Reimann_MSc_2003,Baumgarte:2007ht,Hannam:2006vv}]. The idea is  that a numerically useful evolution of initially Schwarzschild data  using something like maximal slicing will result in a late-time  slicing quite different to the original one.
