Organogram

\label{sec:organogram} This section describes the organisational structure of the team by means of an organogram. Up until the Mid Term Report (MTR) the work was divided based on the different subsystems. After the MTR the work will be divided based on the engineering fields.

Managerial Functions

\label{sub:man} To make sure the group functions as an oiled machine every group member was assigned a specific managerial task. There are three management departments: Communications, Engineering and Reporting. The functions and departments can be found in both organograms (Figure \ref{fig:orga_con} and \ref{fig:orga_prelim}). The functions were divided as seen in Table \ref{tab:manag} and a short task description is given in this section.

President

The president is the leader of the group, he is responsible for the output of the group, he will make sure that each team-member does their tasks. He also conducts the daily briefings, leads and makes an agenda for the meetings with the coaches and checks if everyone updated the logbook.

Vice President

The vice-president is responsible for the planning. He supports the president in his tasks where needed and makes sure that all tasks are performed on schedule. He will take the lead in distributing tasks among the group.

Risk Manager

The risk manager is responsible for keeping track of the risks and making sure that the entire team is aware of these risks.

Communications Department

Internal Communication

The person assigned with the internal communication is responsible for the contact with the internal coaches and for contact within the group.

Secretary and External Communication

The secretary, whom is also responsible for external communication, takes minutes during meetings and emails them to the team and/or coaches. He will also keep track of the team’s email account and manage the in- and out-coming emails from and to external parties when needed.

Reporting Department

Editor

The editor is responsible for LaTex, he will set up general rules for everyone to follow and will make sure the final reports looks neat and professional. He will also keep track of and organise the group’s files in Google Drive.

Quality Control

The quality control of the report is done by a team of several people. They will check the content of the report for completeness (are all deliverables present) and professionalism. They will also check if all statements are properly supported by either own research or citations.

Engineering Department

Chief Engineers

A chief engineer will be responsible for the overall design of the aircraft. They will keep track of the progress of the various subsystem designs and ensure compatibility of the various subsystems.

Conceptual Design

\label{sub:con}

Up until the MTR the group was divided in departments based on the different subsystems. The organogram of the tasks up to the MTR is shown in Figure \ref{fig:orga_con}, the assigned teammembers can be found in Table \ref{tab:tech_con}.

Preliminary Design

\label{sub:prelim} After the MTR the departments will change. The organogram for after the MTR can be found in Figure \ref{fig:orga_prelim}, the division of the team members over the departments can be found in Table \ref{tab:tech_pre}.

\label{fig:orga_prelim}

A brief task description of the departments is found in the coming paragraphs.

Aerodynamics

The aerodynamics department will determine the profile and size of the wing and the fuselage. They will need to work closely with the structures department to find a good and lightweight design.

Power and Propulsion

The power and propulsion department is responsible for the propulsion of the aircraft and the for the power supply that is needed for it. Since the aircraft is electric, the power system is very different from conventional aerobatic aircraft. Thus, the preliminary design of this subsystem will require a more extensive design.

Stability and Control

The stability and control team will focus on the design of the control surfaces and tail in order to determine the stability and agility of the aircraft as well as the stability derivatives needed for the track simulation.

Structures

The team working on this part will perform a structural analysis of the main subsystems such as the wing, empennage and landing gear. A team of two people will concentrate on the structures division, they will also be in charge of creating the 3D model in CATIA (possibly with the help of other organisational divisions).

Track Simulation

This activity will require a lot of resources towards the end, when the preliminary design is in a more mature state. Therefore, one person will concentrate on gathering information in the beginning and a team of three people will perform the track simulation.

Sustainability

Each department will need to focus on sustainability during each phase of the design. The aircraft should minimize their negative impact on the environment saving resources and not damaging the environment.
