\item \textbf{SKA1-SYS\_REQ-2962:} \textit{\bf SKA1\_Low Pulsar Timing resolution.} The SKA1\_Low Pulsar timing mode shall have a timing resolution of better than 100 ns.
\end{itemize}
We will approach this in
three two ways:
Initially Firstly we will look at the maximum timing resolution that can be envisaged as being required for pulsar timing with SKA1
in the absence of interstellar scattering. Taking this derived limit, and secondly, we will
then consider how
this limit evolves with dispersion measure when we take into account interstellar scattering. Finally we will consider the computational complexity of the problem at hand and will discuss the implications of our findings multi-path scattering imposes further limits on
the design and cost of the pulsar timing
hardware from SKA1\_Low and SKA1\_Mid. resolution as a function of dispersion measure.
