<h1 data-label="310128" class="ltx_title_section">6. Semantic, structured documents</h1><div>Authorea is primarily built for scholarly articles, and it knows what scholarly articles look like. So every article you create has a semantic structure: a title, a list of authors (with affiliations), a number of labeled paragraphs/sections, labeled figures, tables, and equations, citations and a bibliography at the end. Some documents may also have an abstract and keywords. This structure allows you to quickly and easily refer to any part of your document. In the future, we will be able to use this semantic markup in even more interesting ways.</div><div></div>
