Pitching and giving an academic talk are not the same thing
Another remark that I heard during my early pitches was: get to the point and make it really really easy to understand. It is rare to get an academic talk that is truly inspiring for the general public and scientifically solid at the same time. This is because as scientists we tend to be very specific, pedantic, etc
An elevator pitch is not an abstract.
