\subsection{Survey results}  We implemented extended  our interview results with a short survey sent to nearly 350 Ph.D.-level researchers at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in April 2013. 175 173  researchers responded to the survey within a one-week period just two days  (response rate: roughly 50\%). In the first part of the survey we gathered biographical information about the respondents as well as some general information about their work and data practices. We asked the following questions: \begin{enumerate}  \item In what year did you, or do you expect to, obtain a Ph.D.?  \item What is your field of specialization in Astronomy?
