\textbf{Figure 3}  Increases in carbon resulted in decreases in A) planktonic agae algal  biomass (estiated as Chl \textit{a}  but B) not algal biomass present in the biofilmas measured by concentration of Chlorophyll  \textit{a} in each. In contrast both C) biofilm total biomass and D) number of planktonic bacterial cells increased with increasing carbon subsidies. Responses in treatments separated by different letters were statistically different from one another (p=0.05) (p<0.05) as was the highest C:P treatment for planktonic bacterial abundance compared to the the control or the C:P = 10 treatment (p<0.05).
