Distances are critical for disentangling the qualitative and quantitative picture of the whole system of HVCs.  Distances are known for many of the HVC complexes. Of the 15 most prominent HVC complexes, 13 have direct distance measures that include upper limits on the distance to these sources. Of these X are published, and Y are currently being coalated (wakker in prep). The most prominent, outstanding complex is complex WD. WD, originally detected by someone.  Complex WD is a large area complex covering X square degrees with a total HI flux of Y. It is one of the largest non-magellanic complexes that exist in the inner two galactic quadrants? quadrants, where a very small fraction of HVC flux is detected.
