If an astronomer uses Authorea, inserting a reference is as simple as cutting & pasting the URL from ADS, like this: \cite{2014arXiv1401.2134G}. Cut and pasting DOI links also work in Authorea, as well as in other tools.   \cite{http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2014ApJ...786..125S} \cite{2014ApJ...786..125S}
