# Collaborative Authoring  ## This article has been written using the [Authorea](http://authorea.com) collaborative online authoring platform.  Authorea is one of a growing number of services that allow authors, especially in the Sciences, to move collaborative writing from a system of emailing drafts created in desktop software (like LaTeX) amongst co-authors and editors to online, real-time, collaborative, platforms.  ## Write LaTeX Most scholars today are very familiar with lower-level, simpler, collaborative writing tools like [Google Docs] (http://www.google.com/docs/about/). Authorea and its ilk can be thought of as more sophisticated versions of Google Docs, in that they include the ability to include equations, figures, limited interactivity, and that they offer better version control.  ## Share LaTeX Here is a comparison of some key features of the current three top offerings from Scientists, [Authorea](http://authorea.com), [writeLaTeX](https://www.writelatex.com), and [shareLaTeX](https://www.sharelatex.com).  (insert table, to be created, here--**Alberto**--can you do that?)
