Lasers are devices that are able to generate light facing a specific direction at a specific wavelength. As expected, single GaN nanowires have been formed into extremely small devices. Most synthetic methods utilize GaN nanowires grown from top-down etching to minimize defects and maintain a high amount of control on the physical parameters of the nanowire. Once grown, a single GaN nanowire is extracted and placed upon a layer of silicon nitride. By altering the angle of the nanowire to the silicon dioxide, the emission of the laser can be altered. \cite{Wright_2014}This process is both simple and allows control over the laser device by altering the psychical angle of the two components, and is still the main method of creating GaN lasers. \cite{Wright_2014}
