Strong core fields occur only in stars above 1.1 solar masses,  %[this setence seems to break flow between previous and subsequent sentence] Low-mass red giants, which burned hydrogen in a radiative core, do not posses strong internal magnetic fields.   and for intermediate-mass stars (1.6--2.0 \msun), the occurence occurrence  is at least 60\%, suggesting that powerful dynamos are very common in the  convective cores of these stars.
