As pointed out by \cite{2008A&A...479L..37M}, \cite{Maeder2008},  the effects of rotation on sub-surface convection become substantial for stars rotating close to critical velocity. While stars rotating with such high velocities exist (e.g. Be stars), their number is modest. The study of sub-surface convection in these very fast rotators is interesting, but may require 2-dimensional stellar models, which is beyond the scope of this paper.
