STT events are grouped into three classes based on the peak ozone altitude and the minimal tropopause altitude.
If the peak occurs within 2km of the tropopause we class it as shallow, between 2 and 4km we class as medium, and peaks greater than 4km from the minimal tropopause are deep events.
