\section{Introduction}   Physical inactivity is one of the leading causes of preventable death - 2M/year worldwide (alcohol at 1.9M/year, 2001). The project entailed a pilot study on using ambient displays to provide visual feedback on physical activity. A class of schoolchildren was monitored with Fitbit activity monitors and their daily physical activity was visualised on a custom ambient display, consisting in part of an LED lighting strip installed in the classroom. In addition, video segments describing mission-based activities were shown on tablet devices to the children at the start of each week\footnote{These weekly mission video segments were designed and created by Redhead Consultancy.}.     The study was performed with Year 5 schoolchildren ($n = 32$) from Bigyn Primary School in Llanelli. They were divided into 10 groups, where each group was assigned a uniquely distinguishable colour to represent their group on the ambient display. Flexible LED lighting was installed along the bookshelf in the front of the classroom.     The display was connected via a microcontroller to the school's computer network. Activity monitor data were retrieved from the Fitbit website and displayed with moving colour segments, where different colours were used to represent the various teams. The teams could make their colour segment go faster by increasing their number of steps. The team's colour would start to flash if the spent more time being active than the previous day.     For the missions, ideas were elicited directly from the schoolchildren, with a brainstorming activity performed at the school. These ideas were then refined by the project team and turned into four activity-based missions.     The study itself ran for four weeks, with a different mission allocated to each week. Each group’s performance was compared to that of the previous day, where the ambient display would indicate if their performance improved. Pre- and post-intervention measurements were performed, which included anthropometric measurements such as height, weight, and BMI, shuttles completed on the bleep test as a measure of fitness, and 7-day objectively assessed physical activity levels.  \subsection{Mission 1: Assault course}  ``Captain Cybernetic wants you to infiltrate Dr. Tempus's lair. However, Dr. Tempus has placed various obstacles in your path. Navigate the obstacles to get to his lair as fast as possible.''
