The data record shows a clear annual cycle. This is plotted in fig xx for the 500 nm channel, which has the most complete record of this data series. This can be compared with measurements made at similar latitudes in Australia. The July median optical depth of 0.03 is very similar to that observed from 4 years of data from a rural Wagga Wagga site \cite{Radhi:2010vh}, with a slightly lower value reported from over a decade of data from an arid site Tinga Tingana \cite{Mitchell:2010gr}. In summer, median values of around 0.1 are larger than the average values reported from Wagga Wagga and Tinga Tingana (0.08). This increase in median optical depth can be due to either antrhopogenic anthropogenic  or biogenic sources.
