The laboratory in Darwin, Australia is located at the Department of Energy (DoE) Tropical Western Pacific (TWP) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) site (12.425° S, 130.98° E, 30 m above sea level). This site is approximately 9 km form Darwin city centre, adjacent to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) station at Darwin International Airport. The FTS has operated mostly continuously since 2005 aside from gaps in April 2006 due to battery failure and gaps in June 2007 due to computer failure \cite{Deutscher2010}.
