Definition of outcome measurements

Most of the authors designated the lack of positive micological examination as a primary outcome result in their studies. Secondary measurement would be the percentage of nails which were clinically clear and those which respoded to treatment by clear nail re-growth.

Clear nail regrowth was measured in two modalities. One took into consideration the whole clear area that was free of clinically observed lesions and expressed it as percentage of nail area. Second mode only considered the linear regrowth of a clear nail. Only one study \cite{Hees2013} also included other objective outcome measures: Onychomycosis Severity Index (OSI) and visual assessment scale for reporting the pain during procedure.
