While most tombs have been documented through photos that we have taken, the oldest tombstones, many of them are lost, are sometimes documented through digitized versions of previous documentations in archives and articles. Main sources of information are: \cite{zhufeng53,Shiyangwei53,linhengdao69,shiwanshou75}. Most of these Ming tombstone documentations created by previous generations have unfortunately been made without a photographic record and are thus essentially incomplete, vague and sometimes inconsistent.\footnote{\cite{zhufeng53} Tombstone 7 and its equivalent \cite{shiwanshou75} Tombstone 23 differ by the absence or presence of the character 「門」. \cite{zhufeng53} Tombstone 10 and its equivalent \cite{shiwanshou75} Tombstone 62 differ by the absence or presence of the character 「考」. \cite{zhufeng53} Tombstone 19 and 22 are not included in \cite{shiwanshou75}.} Redocumenting them in a digital format allows us to extract those features which can reliably be used to identify newly found tombstones as Ming tombstones.  The totla total  number of tombs included in this study are listed in Table 1, 表一,  sorted according to the 年號.
