Relevance to NASA Strategic Plan

AGN are some of the most energetic objects in the universe. Occuring at the centers of galaxies, it is thought they have a large and substantial impact on the growth of the galaxy they live in. By studying the variability of AGN, we are inherently studying the processes which drive the emission from AGN and how the super-massive black holes within them grow. Therefore this proposal is directly relevant to Objective 1.6 of the 2014 NASA Strategic Plan which states: Discover how the universe works, explore how it began and evolved, and search for life on planets around other stars.
