# A child in a pond  Assuming we accept some moral obligations, do we have an obligation to help people in other states the same way we have an obligation to help a child we witness near us in spacetime struggling to breathe after falling in a pond? What are the arguments for being concerned about the endemic poverty of people we shall probably never meet?  Do rich nations have moral obligations to assist less wealthy ones? Why?
