\section*{Data Formats}
FITS is an old and proven standard. The CCD images and scanned plates will be
kept in FITS. For the documents, we will use PDF, or rather PDF/A as much as
possible. The third choice is the simplest: plain ASCII text. Limiting the
accepted data formats might cause inconvenience for the depositing
researchers, but helps to keep the long-term costs and risks lower.
