Dale Hathaway joined the Winthrop faculty in 2014 as an adjunct in the Department of Philosophy and Religion. His previous position had been at Chaminade University in Honolulu where he was an Instructor in the College of Education after having retired from a career of 30 years as an Episcopal priest. Hathaway did graduate study in Theology at Notre Dame University and from there taught for three years at St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Indiana. After moving to Hawaii and during his tenure as a rector he taught Bible studies at Iolani School during the summers. A research area of particular interest to Hathaway is the pedagogy of religious education. At Chaminade University he also taught and directed a graduate level course on "Peace, Social Justice and Educational Reform". His courses at Winthrop include: Introduction to the Hebrew Bible, Reading Biblical Texts, Introduction to Religious Studies, and Modern Christian Thought.
