Abstract

This paper investigates the impact of foreign irregular labor correction campaign on unemployment rate. I show that this new regulation has failed to achieve its main objective in substantially reducing the unemployment rate among locals mainly because it assumes that the presence of cheap foreign labor is the reason Saudis can't find employment in the private sector. I explain that the campaign does not differ from old Saudization policies and that its uniqueness lies only in its securitization of undocumented workers.
