The energy landscape is changing rapidly since the importance of renewable energy is being recognized globally. Challenges like fast depletion of fossil fuel based energy resources, upsurge in oil prices, ensuring long term energy security, ageing energy infrastructure and overexploitation of available natural resources are looming over the world. over 65% of the world's electrical energy used today is generated by fossil fuels based thermal power plants and this burning of fossil fuels to meet the electrical energy demand throughout the world is creating chaos in ecosystem. A report by Hill (n.d.) illustrates, from 1970 to the present, carbon emissions increased by 30% in developed countries, while increasing by 80% in developing countries. Therefore, since the very beginning of 21th century, the interest for clean energy production has been strengthening every year. Renewable energy technologies like solar, wind and electrical energy through biomass, however, are proving to be collaterally viable options which are effectively compelling us to resort to them.
