James Harrington
Research Chemist
Dr. James Harrington is currently a Research Chemist in RTI International’s Innovation, Technology, and Development (ITD). In this capacity, he contributes to development of the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) heavy metals testing program and other strategic areas of interest to RTI’s Analytical Sciences (AS). He has also contributed to multiple research projects for the National Toxicology Program (NTP) in the area of metallomics and inorganic speciation and a number of publications in the area of inorganic analytical methods and biogeochemistry of trace metals in the environment. Dr. Harrington has previously performed research with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on trace metal bioavailability in contaminated soils and on small molecule–metal interactions during his postdoctoral and doctoral studies. He has also performed metal impurity testing on pharmaceutical products. His research interests include bioinorganic chemistry, environmental chemistry, and analytical method development.
