5.2 Conclusion
Biogas production results in two products - biogas and digestate.
Anaerobic digestion involves biogas production via the microbial
degradation of organic compounds in the absence of oxygen. It reduces
the bulk of organic matter to be disposed, generates digestate rich in
nutrients that can be of agricultural value, and produces biogas rich in
methane which can be used as fuel directly or can be converted to
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Gas (LNG).
