Abstract

Large scale spatial organisation of  moving  individuals are challenging to access in experimental scenarios. Here we provide an in depth quantitative study of self-organisation in motile rod-shaped bacteria, namely M. xanthus. Non-equilibrium clustering. 
Quantitative comparison to model predictions for simple self-propelled rods indicate that the large scale behaviour observes is fully explained by the steric interactions of the individuals. Statistical
