Language Arts Center (Assessment)

1.     Students will complete sentence frames that tell them about animal habitats. They will need paper, crayons, and pencils.
2.     There will be pictures labeled of different habitats (water, forest, grassland, house, etc.).
3.     The example on the worksheet would be: A forest is a habitat for an owl. Then provide partners with two sheets of paper, each with this sentence frame:
A _______ is a habitat for a _______ .
4.     Children will reach into a box and pull out a picture labeled with the name of an animal or person. The student will then say which habitat that animal or person belongs to.
5.     Have students write or dictate (while a partner writes) the name of an animal in the first blank on each paper and the name of its habitat in the second blank. Then students will illustrate the sentence on one of the papers.
6.     Students place their papers in the “Turn it In” bin for the teacher to review later.
