Hardwicke et al. have made an important contribution to the conversation of analytic reproducibility and exploration of the impact of a data sharing policy intervention. By exploring not only data availability of published articles at the journal Cognition, but also evaluating their in-principle reusability and analytic reproducibility, this research provides much needed evaluation of the impact but also limits of an open data policy. The transparency and quality reporting of this research is exceptional, with explicit delineation of exploratory analysis from pre-registered analyses and access to all supporting materials, data, and code. Additionally, a thoughtful pioneering of how to classify reproducibility errors was introduced as well as guidance on the difficult assessment of which outcomes should be considered "relatively straightforward and substantive".  This work is of significant interest to the field, there are some concerns that could be addressed in the next version. These are outlined below.
