Abstract

We investigate how much information we can extract from the sound produced when a hex nut is made to rotate into a rubber balloon. We analyse the frequency components and the amplitude components  of the sound and propose a model for their origin. We investigate different rubber balloons as well as different experimental setups, studying which one helps to describe the different observed phenomenon the best.
Ancien abstract: In this article, we investigate the sound produced by a hex nut when it is rolled into a balloon. We analyse both the frequency components of the sound as well as the amplitude components and theoretically explain these sounds. We also investigate different rubber balloons as well as different experimental setups, studying which one helps to describe the different observed phenomenon the best.
